Poppies at Petrifying Springs

Poppies at Petrifying Springs. 2012. There's a clearing at Petrifying Springs Park where you can find red poppies naturally growing. I used to run by this area in preparation for a 5k cross country run. The sun rays beaming down on the red flowers always caught my attention. The lighting was so stark and dramatic yet peaceful. These poppies were shot on an off day, I couldn't resist photographing them.
